Goodlyfe Mozy Assaults Student
Does being a celebrity give you Aright to break the law
Singer Moze Radio is expected to reappear at Katwe Police Station today to answer a police bond after he allegedly hit a student with a beer bottle on the head.
It is alleged that Radio hit Simpson Kamugisha, a student at Management of Accountancy Training (MAT) Institute, at around 8:40pm on April 10. Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said Radio is facing assault charges and his case file had been forwarded to State Attorney for perusal and legal advice. Onyango said the singer told the police that he mistook Kamugisha for a thug since he found him adjacent to his home in Kizungu Zone, Makindye Division. But Kamugisha alleged that he was walking with a friend when Radio blocked them with his vehicle. “He asked them where we were going and when they told him, he replied that he had never heard about them”. It is then that the Goodlyf singer reportedly started beating up Kamugisha, prompting his friend to take off and return with a boda boda cyclist, who in turn alerted the police after seeing the victim bleeding. Radio and his colleagues told the police that they could do nothing to him since he was close to the Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura and President Museveni, which forced the police officers to retreat.
Kamugisha reported a case at Katwe Police Station the next day and Radio was summoned to answer to the charges the following day. He was interrogated before being released on police bond. Radio was among the local artistes who composed the Tubonga Naawe song that was used by President Museveni during his presidential campaigns. Social media has not been too friendly to these musicians, with threats to boycott their music shows. Efforts to get a comment from Radio were futile as he did not respond or return our repeated calls. We shall assume he was busy rehearsing for their May 13 concert.- Get link
