Ugandan Musicians Face Revenue Challenges Due to Live Concert Streams

Jaja Ragga Dee Addresses Revenue Losses from Live Concert Streams in Uganda Jaja Ragga Dee commonly known as Daniel kazibwe, a prominent figure in the Ugandan music industry and the patron of the Uganda Musicians Federation (UMF), has raised concerns over the financial losses Ugandan artists face due to live concert broadcasts by various media houses. In recent statements, he highlighted how these live streams on different social media platforms deter many potential concertgoers from attending events, opting instead to watch the performances for free from the comfort of their homes. UK BASED Ugandan MUSIC PROMOTORS SCARED OF LOOSING Their Events LICENCES

Discover the vibrant and diverse world of Ugandan music, as we delve into the UK-based Ugandan music scene. From traditional rhythms to modern beats, explore the rich cultural heritage and emerging talent that is making waves in the UK.

UK-based Ugandan promoters could lose their event licenses due to overstaying and aiding Ugandan artists who enter the United Kingdom and fail to leave the country. Reports suggest that the Home Office and UK Immigration are canceling event permits and licenses for promoters involved in such activities, following the footsteps of their counterparts in other European countries.

These events are organized by Ugandans for the Ugandan community residing in these countries, providing an opportunity to celebrate community events such as birthdays and house parties. Just like anyone else, people work hard and deserve some quality time to relax and enjoy with friends and family.

These concerts not only bring Ugandans together but also provide a platform for Ugandan musicians to earn money and connect with their diaspora fans. It has been a successful venture so far, with Ugandans who wish to travel abroad paying these artists to accompany them on tour and stay in countries like the UK, USA, Canada, or other European nations.

However, the situation took a turn when the visa office and immigration authorities in the UK discovered that some individuals who had traveled with Ugandan artists, like Ykee Benda, did not leave the country.

The responsibility for their visa application fell on the promoters, leading to the cancellation of their event promotion licenses. This cancellation has had a significant impact on their income, prompting those with licenses to become more stringent to avoid losing them.
