Ugandan Musicians Face Revenue Challenges Due to Live Concert Streams

  Jaja Ragga Dee Addresses Revenue Losses from Live Concert Streams in Uganda Jaja Ragga Dee commonly known as Daniel kazibwe, a prominent figure in the Ugandan music industry and the patron of the Uganda Musicians Federation (UMF), has raised concerns over the financial losses Ugandan artists face due to live concert broadcasts by various media houses. In recent statements, he highlighted how these live streams on different social media platforms deter many potential concertgoers from attending events, opting instead to watch the performances for free from the comfort of their homes. Jaja Ragga Dee pointed out that a concert which could potentially attract around 8,000 attendees often ends up drawing only about 3,000 people. The primary reason for this significant drop is the free live broadcasts. Many Ugandan celebrities have always kept silent about government policies and politics,  it's just the likes of Bobi wine who have been turning their guns at the government for the oppression of the local Ugandan masses.

 But  when the Ugandan government announced the introduction of social media Tax on platforms like Facebook the 1st of July 2018, we saw a wake up of many Ugandan celebrities to  oppose the Tax.

Facebook is a social media platform many ugandans from all walks of life have embraced to communicate with loved ones and friends who are near and far away distances. Facebook too helps people reunite with neighbors and childhood friends who went missing but reunite on the platform.

Many of the Ugandan performing musicians and journalists organised a press conference to show their dissatisfaction towards the  introduced  tax as they looked at it as a  move by government to fail ugandans from accessing internet and the freedom of expression. 

Facebook is a free promotion platform for artists to promote their music in the form of audio and video.

Artists use Facebook as a rally point in times of concerts and shows as it's through this platform that the funs are informed of the place the concerts will take place.

Well as the musicians look at the internet as the way they have been using to promote their music and invite their Funs to their concerts and also making contact with the funs
